Investing in Detroit real estate has quite literally changed my life. I bought my first Detroit rental property in April 2019 and quickly scaled to 10-doors within 2.5 years.
It was quite the journey!
I was living in the Detroit Metro area while building my portfolio, so I had the advantage of being on the ground. But I still made many costly mistakes.
I now live back in California and self-manage my Detroit portfolio from afar. I also help many out-of-state real estate investors get started in Detroit.

Detroit has some unique challenges. Detroit real estate agents really aren’t great and Detroit property managers leave a lot to be desired.
Lastly, I don’t JUST write about Detroit real estate investing. I also write about real estate investing more broadly. Obviously, the topics overlap but it’s worth checking out my writings on that topic as well.
