I got my first taste of real estate investing when my wife and I sold our Bay Area townhome in 2017. We took our tax-free capital gains and moved to Metro Detroit where we did a live-in flip and built a 12-door rental portfolio in Detroit proper.

We’re now back in California, self-managing our Detroit rentals and nearly finished with a 2,100 sq ft ADU +addition at our primary residence.
